Tod O’Dowd is the 4th generation owner of Avery Insurance. He joined the firm in 1994 after attending the Commercial Union School for Agents. Tod earned his Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) designation in 1998 and holds the High-Net-Worth Insurance designation program CAPI (Certified Advisor of Personal Insurance) created by the Wharton School and Chubb.
Tod specializes in the asset protection needs of business owners and high-net-worth clients. His diverse background in working with a wide range of industries and businesses enables him to provide critical insight and expert advice to clients in the areas of risk analysis, cost containment, risk transfer strategies, and implementation.
A past president of the New Hampshire Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA), Tod participates on several insurance company advisory boards. He also has served on various non-profit organization boards of directors such as Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce, Abenaki Ski Area, NH Children’s Museum, and the NH Charitable Foundation. In 2012, he was named New Hampshire Business Review’s (NHBR) Businessman of the Year.
A NH native, married with 2 children, Tod is a former US Navy helicopter crew chief and air rescue operator. He was awarded a Navy Air Medal and Medal of Commendation for this work with Navy Seal Teams conducting tactical operations. Tod enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, swimming, golf, tennis, and is an avid skier working with the Ski Instructors of America as an examiner/course conductor.
